Now that you have all the ingredients, it’s time to make the Doris’ Shavuot Cheesecake! Follow these simples steps to create a delicious treat.

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2: Prepare the Crust

In a bowl, mix together 1½ cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and ⅓ cup sugar. Add ½ cup or 1 stick of melted butter to the mixture and stir with a fork until evenly combined. Add in 1 egg, mixing until the dough comes together.

Step 3: Bake the Crust

Press the dough onto the bottom of an ungreased 9-inch (23 cm) springform pan. Using a fork, prick several times on surface. Spread ¾ cup raisins on crust if desired for extra flavor. Bake crust for about 15 minutes until lightly golden brown, then remove from oven and let cool.

Step 4: Prepare the Filling

Before proceeding, reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C).

In a large bowl, cream together ⅔ cup sugar, 16 oz cream cheese and ½ lb farmer cheese using an electric mixer until smooth. Blend in 1 cup sour cream and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Beat in 4 eggs* one at a time.

Step 5: Bake the Cheesecake

Pour filling into cooled crust over raisins and tap on counter to remove any air pockets.
Bake cheesecake for approximately 50-60 minutes or until set in center.

Step 6: Cool and Chill

Once done baking, turn off oven and leave cheesecake inside to cool down slowly for about one hour before removing from oven. After one hour has passed, remove cheesecake from oven and run knife around edge of pan to loosen it from sides. Let cheesecake completely cool on wire rack before refrigerating for several hours or overnight.

One of the great things about Doris’ Shavuot Cheesecake Recipe is that it’s so versatile. You can make a few key ingredient swaps to tailor the taste to your liking. Plus, there are several ways to jazz up this classic recipe, so let’s get creative!

For starters, if you’re looking for a healthier alternative, you could replace some or all of the sugar with natural sweeteners like maple syrup or honey. Similarly, almond flour or coconut flour could be a great gluten-free option instead of regular flour. It won’t change the flavor too much, but it will produce a denser, nuttier crust.

If you want to experiment with different flavors, try adding cocoa powder to the batter for chocolate cheesecake. Alternatively, lemon zest provides a refreshing twist on this timeless dessert. You could also throw in some raisins or nuts like pecans or walnuts into the filling for added texture.

In terms of toppings, fresh berries like strawberries or raspberries complement the richness of the cheesecake nicely. You could also drizzle chocolate syrup on top for added decadence. And for all my kosher foodies out there, you can easily swap out butter with margarine without compromising on taste.

Finally, if you’re feeling adventurous, you could try making a no-bake variation by using cream cheese whipped cream instead of baked cheesecake mixture. Or experiment with an Israeli-style ricotta cheesecake – these typically come out fluffier and less dense than their American counterparts.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to making Doris’ Shavuot Cheesecake Recipe your own. Whether you’re in the mood for classic New York style cheesecake or something entirely unique, don’t be afraid to have fun with it and experiment until you find your perfect variation!

Serving and Pairing

Once you have baked your Doris Shavuot cheesecake to perfection, the next important step is to enjoy it to the fullest. This creamy and delicious dessert is a showstopper on any table and can be served as a sweet ending to any meal or special occasion.

To serve, simply remove the cheesecake from the springform pan and slice into even wedges. You can also add some fresh fruit, such as strawberries or blueberries, as a garnish on top of each slice. Alternatively, you can skip the fruit and drizzle some chocolate syrup over each slice for an extra touch of decadence.

When it comes to pairing, this cheesecake goes well with a variety of beverages, such as coffee, tea, milk or even a glass of champagne. The rich flavor of the cheesecake is complemented by the bitterness of coffee or tea, and the sweetness of the cake balances well with the bubbles in champagne.

If you’re serving this cheesecake for a big celebration or dinner party, consider pairing it with other Jewish desserts like Burmese shredded phyllo dough pastry known as “Burma Burma,” which would be a perfect complement to the cheesecake’s sweetness. Additionally, iced Viennese coffee or any cold beverage would go well with this delightful dessert.

Regardless of what you pair it with don’t forget that this cheesecake is quite filling so keep your serving sizes moderate to allow everyone to savor every flavor-bursting bite!

Make-Ahead, Storing and Reheating

The perfect balance of sweet and tart

The perfect balance of sweet and tart

One of the most appealing features of Doris’ Shavuot Cheesecake is its versatility when it comes to make-ahead, storing and reheating. With a little bit of planning and care, this tasty cheesecake can be enjoyed at any time of day or night.

If you are planning to serve the cheesecake a day ahead, you can simply let it cool down to room temperature after baking, wrap it tightly with plastic wrap to prevent any air from getting in, and place it in the refrigerator until ready to serve. This will help the flavors meld together and give your cheesecake extra depth and richness.

When it comes time to reheat, preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C), remove the plastic wrap from the cheesecake and let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before baking. Place the cheesecake on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until it’s warmed through. This will restore the creamy texture and give your slices that fresh-out-of-the-oven look and taste.

If you want to freeze the cheesecake for later use, let it cool completely first, wrap tightly with several layers of plastic wrap and foil to protect from freezer burn or moisture loss, and freeze for up to 3 months. When ready to serve, let it thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating as described above.

No matter how you decide to store or reheat leftovers, one thing is certain; Doris’ Shavuot Cheesecake will always impress your guests with its smooth texture, rich flavor, and irresistible appearance.

Tips for Perfect Results

A cheesecake lovers' dream come true

A cheesecake lovers’ dream come true

When baking a cheesecake, the slightest mistake can ruin everything. The perfect cheesecake requires patience, precision and attention to detail. Here are some tips inspired by Doris’ Shavuot Cheesecake recipe for achieving the perfect result.

Tip #1: Room Temperature Ingredients

The ingredients of your cheesecake should not be too cold, nor should they be too hot. Your cream cheese, farmer cheese, butter, eggs and sour cream must be at room temperature. Cold ingredients do not combine well and may form lumps that might destroy the texture of your cheesecake.

Tip #2: Mind Your Baking Time

Over-baking is a common problem people face when baking cheesecake. While baking time varies depending on the recipe you are following, it is best to keep an eye on the cake while it’s in your oven. Start with less time and increase as needed to ensure the top of the cake does not brown too much or even crack open.

Tip #3: Use A Water Bath

Baking in a water bath means creating a humid environment when baking your cheesecake – this helps prevent cracks on its surface. Wrap a springform pan with aluminum foil so no water will seep through, and bake your cheesecake. It’s also important to let your cake cool down inside the oven with the door slightly open for an hour or two before taking it out.

Tip #4: Don’t Overmix Your Ingredients

While it is tempting to mix all ingredients quickly just to finish the prep work, it’s best if you go slow when stirring in eggs – that way you won’t mix out all of its air. When making this Doris’ Shavuot Cheesecake recipe, follow her indication carefully and mix eggs one at a time.

By applying these tips correctly, you will achieve well-deserved compliments from everyone you serve your delicious Doris’ Shavuot Cheesecake.
