Now that you have all of the necessary ingredients ready, let’s dive into the recipe how-to. This Bisquick Irish Soda Bread Recipe is so easy to make that even if you are new to baking, you will nail it effortlessly.

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

First and foremost, preheat your oven to 375°F. While your oven is warming up, move on to the next step.

Step 2: Mix the Ingredients

Whisk together 2 cups of Bisquick Heart Smart Baking Mix, 1/4 cup of Splenda Granular, and 1 tablespoon of caraway seeds in a large bowl.

Step 3: Add Wet Ingredients

Add 1/2 cup of golden raisins and mix everything together. Then add 1 beaten egg with enough water to make a total of 2/3 cups. Gently combine them until they are moistened thoroughly.

Step 4: Shape & Bake the Dough

Next, shape the dough using floured hands and drop it onto a baking sheet or a greased pizza pan. Make sure that the dough is evenly shaped all around, then mark an “X” shape about 1/4 inch deep across the top of the loaf.

Step 5: The Final Touches

Pop in your Bisquick Irish soda bread into the oven, position it in the center rack, and bake for around 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Insert a wooden toothpick or clean knife into the center of the bread – if it comes out clean, we’re golden! Cover the bread with foil if it starts browning too quickly.

Congratulations! Your delicious Bisquick Irish Soda Bread is ready to be devoured for instance. It may sound daunting since bread occasionally has a reputation for being complex but this recipe offers fantastic results with minimal effort required.

If you’re looking to put your own spin on this classic recipe, here are a few substitutions and variations I recommend.

– Caraway Seeds: If you don’t have caraway seeds or prefer a different flavor, try substituting them with fennel seeds or even fresh rosemary. Both will add a kick of herbaceous flavor that will complement the golden raisins beautifully.

– Golden Raisins: Don’t have golden raisins on hand? Regular raisins will work just fine. But if you prefer a slightly different texture, try chopped dates or dried cranberries instead.

– Splenda Granular: For those watching their sugar intake, you can substitute Splenda Granular for the sugar in this recipe. The sweetness level will remain the same but with fewer calories.

– Gluten-Free Option: If you’re looking to make this recipe gluten-free, try using a gluten-free baking mix instead of regular Bisquick. Just make sure to check the measurements because the ingredients and instructions may vary depending on the brand.

– Buttermilk: If you want to take this recipe up a notch, try using buttermilk instead of water. It will add an extra tang that pairs perfectly with the caraway seeds and golden raisins.

– Keto Option: For those following a keto diet, you can swap out the Bisquick mix for almond flour and add some xanthan gum as a binding agent. Use erythritol instead of sugar and sour cream instead of water to give it that perfect crumbly texture.

No matter what variation or substitution you choose, this Irish Soda Bread recipe is versatile enough to accommodate your personal taste preferences. So go ahead, get creative and enjoy the deliciousness!

Tips for Perfect Results

As a baker, I know that even the slightest mistake can ruin the flavor and texture of any bread recipe. That’s why I’ve compiled some tips to ensure you get perfect results every time with my Bisquick “Irish Soda Bread” recipe.

Firstly, make sure to measure your ingredients accurately. Too much or too little of an ingredient can alter the final product significantly. For this recipe, using two cups of Bisquick mix is crucial for the perfect consistency of the dough. Measuring it precisely will ensure that it is not too dry or wet.

Next, when adding the caraway seeds and golden raisins to the flour mixture, gently stir them in with a fork to avoid crushing the raisins or breaking the seeds. It will prevent the dough from having a uniform texture and impact its appearance.

When it comes to baking soda and baking powder, always check their expiration dates. If these ingredients are past their prime, they won’t work correctly, and your bread may not rise properly.

Moreover, resist the temptation to open the oven during baking; doing so will cause a drop in temperature and alter cooking times. Trust me; the aroma can be very deceiving!

Lastly, don’t forget to let your dough rest for about 10 minutes before putting it into the oven. This step allows time for gluten formation and helps aerate the mixture, giving you an airy crumb.

My Bisquick " Irish Soda Bread "

My Bisquick ” Irish Soda Bread ” Recipe

The original recipe came from but I changed it a little to make it more "diet friendly". Sometimes I leave out the "optional" caraway seeds since I don't really care for them that much. I like to use 1/4 cup orange flavored dried cranberries (craisins) and 1/4 cup golden raisins. Be sure to plump whichever you use in the 3/4 cup of water in the microwave just short of boiling before adding.
